The theater collective NIE was founded in 2017 with the intention of commenting on, accompanying and productively criticizing central issues of urban political development.
It consists of a total of 30 actors, directors, stage, costume and make-up designers, musicians, technicians and authors from different backgrounds and with different educational backgrounds. The overarching theme of urban self-determination, to which this association is dedicated, is not only the content of theatrical adaptations, but is also expressed in the working and organizational forms of the collective itself. Theoretical and artistic reflection and their practical realization are mutually stimulating. It is part of our artistic-political self-image to experimentally realize the urban-political utopias that we want to design in our way of working. The group's productions create practical spaces in which a direct experience of autonomy in the city is possible.
